Night camp at A Spark in the Dark Campground: cars parked near a glowing fire under the Milky Way with junipers and a cozy cabin.

Time for a Change: The 14-Night Slow-Down Special (2 Nights Free!)

There are some folks who swing through for a night, breathe in the juniper-perfumed air, and realize they need a little more time. Maybe a lot more time. And I get it… I’ve been a lifelong practitioner of the phrase, “If a little is good, more must be better!” For better or for worse, anyway…

But in this case it is for the better! I’ve got exactly what you need—a simple, quiet area of the
property where you can slow down, watch the stars shoot across the Milky Way, and not feel
rushed to pack up until you’re good and ready.

A Spark in the Dark Campground isn’t an RV park with hookups or a resort with bells and whistles. It’s a calm place to land. It’s coffee with the coyotes. It’s dazzling stars that sparkle and dance across your eyes. And there is more than enough room to settle into your own unique rhythm. Boondocking – with a couple extras. 🙂

The simple deal (just the way we like it)

  • “$240 per 14-night block” — you’re paying for 12 nights @ $20 and getting 2 nights free! Sold in 14-night blocks only—no partial blocks, no chaos, no math headaches.

How it works

  • Your window runs from 12:00 PM on Day 1 through checkout at 11:00 AM on Day 15.
  • Payment ($240) is due on or before 2:00 PM Day 1 of each new block.
  • No refunds / no carryovers — unused nights don’t roll into the next block.
  • Renewals: automagically continue every 14-night block as long as it feels right; we sign a fresh agreement every 8 weeks.
  • No long contracts—stay while it feels right; either of us can call it at anytime for any reason

Why 14 nights?
Because “two weeks” is the perfect amount of time to forget where you put your phone and finally find your calm. It keeps your budget easy. And with my propensity for being scatterbrained beyond all hope or reason, it’s my speed. 🙂

Things to know (so you land happy)

  • No hookups (boondocking only – plan ahead for water & power; generators are fine outside quiet hours).
  • Porta-potty on site (cleaner than you expect—there’s music to poop to and a guest book to peruse!).
  • Quiet hours: 10:00 PM–8:00 AM.
  • Pack-in/pack-out; no on-site trash service.

Other Cool Stuff

  • Bones of the Ancients Nature Trail — a ¾-mile wander through 30 acres of northern Arizona wilderness (you know, within the context of Ash Fork).
  • Moonlight Market — 24/7 self-serve mini-market for firewood, water, hygiene items, random gear, souvenirs, and who-knows-what-else; pay by cash box or Zelle/PayPal/Venmo/Cash App.
  • Council of Juniper — a favorite quiet nook where guests can meditate or simply sit: a small grove encircled by our wisest junipers with places for you to perch, gentle music, shade overhead, and exactly-right vibes for breathing slower and getting back to yourself.

Need a town run? Water fill, tank dump, and trash drop-off services are in Ash Fork (~5 miles). You’ll also find laundry, fuel, groceries, and fast food (Del Taco, KFC, Sbarro, and more).

Who this is for
Remote workers, sky-chasers, families with kids and pets, snowbirds, wanderers, artists and creators of every type, retired rock hounds, people who see the bright stripe of Milky Way and whisper “oh wow.” I mean literally everyone.
